What Changed in the New Draft? Reviewing a Revised Contract Without Rereading It

The second draft is where things get slipped in. You asked for a longer notice period; it arrived, along with a new clause three pages later that you did not ask for. Rereading the whole document is the only safe approach, and the one nobody has time for.
Contract Analyzer treats a revised draft as a version of the original: upload it from the first report and the compare view switches to version mode. This guide explains what to look at. It is informational only and not legal advice.
Start with the score, then distrust it
The score moving up is a good sign, not a verdict. A revision can improve the area you negotiated while worsening another. Look at the score breakdown next: every area is rated on both drafts, and the better rating is highlighted, so a drop in one area stands out even when the total improved.
Resolved, new, kept
The findings from both reports are matched by title. You get three lists: issues from the previous draft that no longer appear, issues that appear only in the new one, and the ones that stayed. The second list is where the surprises live.
Read the diff for what the summary cannot see
Ratings and findings are judgments. The text diff is not: it shows every line that was added or removed, with unchanged passages collapsed. Scan the additions first. A new sentence in a definitions section can change the meaning of five clauses that did not themselves change.
Keep the context stable
Comparison is only fair if both drafts were reviewed the same way. Uploading the revision from the original report carries over your role, jurisdiction and concerns, so the two reports are answering the same questions.
When the new draft is worse
Use the Negotiate tab on the new draft: the suggested wording is written from your side and the draft message references the clauses by number, so you can reply to the revision in a few minutes with specific asks rather than a general complaint.
